Emmitt Smith is a former American football player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest running backs of all time. He spent most of his career playing for the Dallas Cowboys, where he won three Super Bowl championships and became the NFL's all-time leading rusher.
Emmitt was born on May 15, 1969, in Pensacola, Florida. As a child, he was a talented athlete and excelled in both football and track and field. He went on to play college football at the University of Florida, where he set numerous school and SEC records.
In 1990, Emmitt was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the NFL draft. In 1993, he suffered a separated shoulder in the first game of the season but continued to play through the injury, helping lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory. And in 1994, he missed the first two games of the season due to a contract dispute.
Despite these challenges, Emmitt's dedication to the game and his team never wavered. He retired from the NFL in 2004 as one of the most successful and respected players in the history of the league.
Today, Emmitt continues to be involved in football, working as a commentator and analyst for various media outlets. He is also involved in numerous charitable organizations, including the Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities, which helps underserved children in North Texas.
