Emmitt Smith is a former American football player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest running backs of all time. He spent most of his career playing for the Dallas Cowboys, where he won three Super Bowl championships and became the NFL's all-time leading rusher.

Emmitt was born on May 15, 1969, in Pensacola, Florida. As a child, he was a talented athlete and excelled in both football and track and field. He went on to play college football at the University of Florida, where he set numerous school and SEC records.

In 1990, Emmitt was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the NFL draft. He quickly established himself as one of the league's best running backs, earning Pro Bowl honors in each of his first four seasons. He also helped lead the Cowboys to back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 1993 and 1994.

Over the course of his career, Emmitt set numerous NFL records, including the most career rushing yards (18,355), the most career rushing touchdowns (164), and the most career 100-yard rushing games (78). He was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1993 and won the NFL rushing title four times.

But Emmitt's success on the football field was not without its challenges. In 1993, he suffered a separated shoulder in the first game of the season but continued to play through the injury, helping lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory. And in 1994, he missed the first two games of the season due to a contract dispute.

Despite these challenges, Emmitt's dedication to the game and his team never wavered. He retired from the NFL in 2004 as one of the most successful and respected players in the history of the league.

Today, Emmitt continues to be involved in football, working as a commentator and analyst for various media outlets. He is also involved in numerous charitable organizations, including the Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities, which helps underserved children in North Texas.
