Clint Hurdle is a former professional baseball player and manager. He was born on July 30, 1957, in Big Rapids, Michigan, USA. Hurdle was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the first round of the 1975 MLB draft, and he made his MLB debut with the Royals in 1977 as a 20-year-old.

Hurdle played for the Royals, Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets, and St. Louis Cardinals during his 10-year playing career. He was primarily a outfielder and had a career batting average of .259 with 32 home runs and 193 RBI in 515 games.

After retiring as a player, Hurdle transitioned to coaching and eventually became a manager. He served as the manager of the Colorado Rockies from 2002 to 2009 and led the team to its first World Series appearance in 2007. He was named the National League Manager of the Year in 2013 after leading the Pittsburgh Pirates to their first winning season and playoff berth in 21 years.

Hurdle's managerial career also included stints with the Texas Rangers and as the hitting coach for the Atlanta Braves. He retired from managing after the 2019 season, finishing with a career record of 1,273 wins and 1,386 losses over 16 seasons as a manager.
